Customer reviews reflect a passionate community around this cherished gem. As Harpax A points out, while the pricing at around Rp 45,000 for a complete set may seem steep compared to nearby options, the taste here is consistently touted as superior. In fact, Ryan Reynaldi fondly declares it as "the best Gudeg in the town," with a particular fondness for their Nasi Gudeg Krecel Paha Atas Kecil. Even those new to this unique dish have raved about the warm hospitality from the owners, with Sophie Upton noting the friendly service that complements the delightful fare.
While it is true that the space is snug, adding to its charm, you may find yourself among fellow food enthusiasts sharing the fervor for this local delight. Lawrence Kay humorously mentions the allure of sitting on the floor, while enjoying regional specialities and a refreshing cup of sweet black tea—a quintessential accompaniment to this culinary experience.
In summary, Gudeg Yu Djum Wijilan 31 is not merely a restaurant; it’s a culinary destination that embodies the rich culture and tradition of Yogyakarta. Its vibrant flavors and warm atmosphere invite you in to discover why this Gudeg stands out amongst the crowd. Good Taste, but high price for the class. Pros : + Taste better than other Gudeg (Gudeg is traditional Yogyakarta's mixed rice) Cons : - Place is dingy, only floor seating - Price is rather expensive 45k for complete set, where other places around 35k.

It's nice gudeg - our first time in Yogja though. We had the first one in Canggu but it's on its own. Here, it's on top of your meat, Tempe, egg, etc. Quite nice too. Egg was kinda hard as normally, it would be easy to cut open with your spoon or fork.

Lovely owner who explained everything for us. We have never had Gudeg before so cannot compare it to anything but we really liked it. Service was friendly and fast - all for a great price

This is the best Gudeg in Yogyakarta. Yet, the price is still affordable, Rp 27k - Rp 30k per portion. There are also some takeaway dishes in bamboo boxes with higher prices but larger portions as well. Don't go to Solaria to try traditional dishes while you're in Yogyakarta. Try this instead. Gudeg is Yogyakarta's traditional dish. It's so unique and healthy.

Still be my favorite gudeg in this town! unfortunately the space is so small, if you bring a big family, more than 4 people, I suggest you move into Gudeg Yu Djum Pusat at Jl. Kaliurang. My best menu is Nasi Gudeg Krecel Paha Atas Kecil

small and not really comfy place but this is the origin of the great gudeg yu djum that you can easily found around jogja! the food was good, the gudeg is soooo sweet but the krecek was a bit stiff. like the friendly service. overall, love this place and definitely will recommend this specific place to friends outside jogja!

Sit on the floor for some gudeg and krecek, regional specialities. The gudeg is a spicy and sweet stew, and comes with different cuts of chicken. The krecek is a spicy cow skin. A black tea, sweet or not, seems to be the main drink. Open late. There appears to be some confusion in reviews of places along the street, and this one is of the ‘Gudeg Yu Djum Wijilan 31’ as per the awning in the photo.

One of famous gudeg restaurant in Jogja. Located in Wijilan street that is center of food tourism. However they have minimal parking lot.
